Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL Initial Impressions

Google Pixel 2 and Google Pixel 2 XL:

Well, arguably the Pixel devices are the best Android smartphones straight from the Google since both Hardware and Software are controlled by Google unlike nexus devices.

The Second Generation Pixel devices have been unveiled on 4th October 2017.
  • Pixel 2
  • Pixel 2 XL

You wouldn't be able to tell that the Pixel 2 was made by HTC and the Pixel 2 XL by LG — they're that similar. But when you dig a little deeper, the lineages are clear: the Pixel 2's AMOLED display isn't quite as vibrant (or tall) as that of the LG-made pOLED display on the Pixel 2 XL.

Main Upgrades this year:

  1. IP 67 rating which means you take can give this phone a bath.
  2. Vibrant Colors choice (Regular model comes in Kinda Blue, Just Black and Clearly White - XL comes in Just Black, Simple black and white)
  3. Front Firing Speakers
  4. 18:9 QHD dispaly (only with XL)
  5. Highly rated camera
  6. Active Edge (HTC's inspired)
  7. Daydream ready
  8. No headphone (few of us consider this as a downgrade)

Difference between these two Pixel Devises:

The most notable difference can be found on the front. The smaller Pixel 2 sports a 5.0-inch OLED 1,920 x 1,080 display with a more traditional 16:9 aspect ratio, while the Pixel 2 XL goes the more modern route with its 6.0-inch 2,880 x 1,440 P-OLED display with an 18:9 aspect ratio has always on display feature on XL. There’s a noticeable amount of bezel on the top and bottom of the Pixel 2, whereas the 2 XL has very slim bezels around its screen.

Also, due to the difference in size, the Pixel 2 comes with a much smaller 2,700 mAh battery while the Pixel 2 XL sports a 3,520 mAh cell and provides up to 7 hours of battery life with only 15 minutes of charging time.
Both devices powered by an octa-core 2.35 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC, an Adreno 430 GPU, and 4 GB of RAM. Both phones come in 64 and 128 GB models, no memory expansion supported like the previous generation pixel phones.
Camera:
Generation TWO pixel phones have got a camera upgrade with 12MP lens with 1.8 aperture and have the dual pixel technology. Besides this camera got DxOMark rating a whopping 98 out of 100.

Both front and back cameras are capable of taking portrait shots without a second camera(with machine learning). This camera supports OIS and EIS and for smoother video capture.

Pricing:
In India Pixel 2 starts from Rs. 61,000.
US: Pixel 2 & Pixel 2 XL will be $649 and $849 respectively
