Know more about Gboard

Glide typing:

This feature (swipe typing) is well known on Gboard and helps to type faster compared to the traditional typing. Just slide your finger from letter to letter.

In case of this isn't working, use below path to enable it.
Settings > Gilde Typing > Enable Glide typing

Using Spacebar as a Trackpad:

This is a very useful feature if you want to reach another part of a sentence to modify a word(s) from the endpoint. Just long press on the spacebar and keep right or left without leaving the spacebar.

Gesture Cursor Control - Gboard

In case of this isn't working, use below path to enable it.
Settings > Gilde Typing > Enable Gesture cursor control

Deleting a Word or a Sentence:

Using this feature, deleting a word or a sentence can be done quickly. In order to do this, slide left from the delete button (a quick slide will delete a word and long slide to the left will delete the entire sentence).

One-hand usage of Keyboard and Floating Keyboard:
Finding difficult to type with a single hand on bigger screen phones, just enable one-hand typing to type conveniently. To enable long press on emoji button (left to change keyboard button), three buttons will be popped up (one-hand mode, emoji, and settings) and tap on one-hand mode. Now, switch to left-hand or right-hand mode according to your preference.

One-Hand typing and Floating Keyboard - Gboard

Tap on the floating button to use Gborad to anywhere on the screen, this is quite useful while using split-screen mode.
Language switching:

Want to quickly switch between languages, just long press on the spacebar and a pop-up menu will appear with the list of all available languages.

Number row:


Enabling always show number row helps type faster without any hassle (no need to press number button whenever numbers needed in a text or long pressing first row keys.
Use below path to disable:
Settings > Preferences > Keys > Number row

Adjusting Gboard height:

The default size of a keyboard may not be comfortable for all users to type on and there is a provision to change the height of keyboard if in case users want to do so. 

Use below path to disable:
Settings > Preferences > Layout > Keyboard height

Dark theme in battery saver:


This feature is only useful on AMOLED displays and would help to extend the battery life while in battery saver mode.

Use below path to disable:
Settings > Preferences > Layout > Switch to dark mode theme in battery saver


Voice inputs/dictating:

Can't type on the go or bored of typing, no worries. Gboard's voice dictation would convert your speech into text messages. Just type on the mic button and you are good to go. Turn on the option 'Hide offensive words' if you do not wish to dictate the offensive words and this type of words will be replaced with asterisks(*).

Use below path to disable:
Settings > Preferences > Keys > Voice input key
Find and share GIFs:


Want to use GIFs while texting? it is now possible with Gboard. Just tap GIF icon on the top of the keyboard and Gboard would suggest relevant GIFs based on the search.

Type fractions:

Typing fractions in the text is always quite a task, but with Gboard it isn't. Just long press on a number to see relevant fractions.

Text Translation:

Translating text from one language to another without leaving an app is always a convenient way. Just select the text which you want to translate and tap on the translate button on top of the keyboard.

Note: Disable "share usage statistics" If you don't want to Google collect data from the Gboard.
